Grammy-winning singer Glen Campbell has opened up about being diagnosed with Alzheimer?s Disease.
The ?Rhinestone Cowboy? singer, 75, had suffered from short-term memory loss for years and doctors confirmed Glen has the degenerative neurological disorder, Alzheimer?s Disease.
Glen and his wife Kim decided to go public with the news before the singer heads out on his retirement tour later this year. They didn?t want his fans to worry if he forgets the lyrics to his songs.
Kim stated, ?Glen is still an awesome guitar player and singer. But if he flubs a lyric or gets confused on stage, I wouldn?t want people to think, ?What?s the matter with him? Is he drunk???
Campbell adds, ?I still love making music. And I still love performing for my fans. I?d like to thank them for sticking with me through thick and thin.?
During the singer?s 50 years in show business, Campbell has released over 70 albums. Glen has received twelve RIAA Gold albums, four Platinum albums and one Double-Platinum album.
Some of Campbell?s hit songs include ?Gentle on My Mind?, ?By the Time I Get to Phoenix?, ?Galveston?, ?Rhinestone Cowboy? and ?Southern Nights?.
