Michael Lohan Could 'Never Imagine' Lindsay Dropping the Family Name

Yesterday, PopEater reported exclusively that Lindsay Lohan hopes to follow in Madonna's footsteps by dropping her last name. At least, that's the plan according to her mom, Dina Lohan.

Michael Lohan says: No way. The family patriarch -- recently accused of domestic violence by ex-girlfriend Kate Major -- popped up on CNN's sister network Friday night, firmly denying rumors of his famous daughter's name change.

"I don't think it's true at all," he told Headline News' Jane Velez-Mitchell in a satellite interview (watch the video after the jump.) "I would never imagine any of my kids changing their name, especially Lindsay."

He calmly insisted he had no idea why his ex, Dina, would announce such a thing. "Could it have to do with the drama with Kate?" he hinted. "You never know." He added, "With all due respect....Dina has said a lot of things over the years that have never come to fruition."

The name-change report isn't the only thing he was eager to deny during the interview.

Lohan also wanted to explain his side of the story regarding Major's report filed with the Sheriff, alleging that he got physical during a recent quarrel.

"Well, this was all premeditated, and we have evidence," Lohan said. "Kate left messages for people saying she was planning on having me arrested, because she wanted some money. I've been supporting Kate for over a year and a half, when no one else would do it, not even her father....I wish Kate the best. She really needs some help."

Mitchell pressed Lohan about Major's claim, and asked, "Did you hit her?", to which he replied, "Absolutely not. As a matter of fact, I'm the one who got cut." He rolled up his sleeve to show dark scratches he claims he sustained in the dispute.

"I called the police department first," he said, "and she raced there in her car while I was walking there to press charges...and they wouldn't even let me file a report."

Then, unintentionally justifying why his daughter might reasonably want to drop her surname, he griped, "They just arrested me on the spot, like they do Lindsay. You have the Lohan name, and you're gonna get nailed for it."
