Blake Shelton Recalls Relieving Wedding Moment

Blake Shelton and Miranda LambertBlake Shelton and Miranda Lambert's intimate May 14 wedding, which took a full year to plan, is a happy memory for the newly married couple. The groom, who has had some time to reflect on the big day, shares a few highlights -- and the unfortunate moment that was captured on film.

"Probably the best moment, the coolest moment of the wedding was when Miranda came down the aisle," the Oklahoma native reveals. "She was with her dad and they stopped right in front of us. Ashley Monroe was playing a song -- she played the song that Miranda walked down the aisle on. She stopped right there and we just had a moment where we were looking at each other, and it was starting to get me. I looked over at Rick, and he cries a lot anyway, so he was starting to cry. And then all of a sudden you could hear a little bit of feedback, and Miranda began to kind of under her breath to Ashley, 'Did you turn the guitar off? Turn the guitar off. Turn it off!' It killed the whole moment with the feedback."

The 'Honey Bee' singer was blissfully unaware of the media's interest in their big day, until nature called. "There was a couple of odd things and great things. The first thing for me was, and I realized things were changing at this moment, for not just me but Miranda and people were interested in us in a big way," says the 35-year-old. "They had gotten everybody into the chapel and they were seated and there was a little bit of music playing before I was supposed to step in and the wedding was going to start. I was standing out there talking to the pastor, and I had to pee."

"So I, as I was talking to him, I just walked over to the building, and we were talking and I was peeing, and a helicopter flew by really low. I remember saying, 'You don't think that's ... no ..." And sure enough a Texas ranger came around and said, 'Hey man, there's a problem,' so I just knew the world would know just how nervous I was that day. I didn't know what kind of picture they may have gotten of me!"

The reigning CMA Male Vocalist of the Year garnered a whole new fan base, thanks to his appearance on NBC's hit TV show, 'The Voice.' The couple's shared superstar status meant thousands of generous well-wishers who were only too happy to contribute to the couple's happiness.

"It's amazing how many wedding gifts I'm still getting from fans and meet and greets," notes the tunesmith. "And nice stuff too. It blows me away. I told Miranda, 'Tell people to send flowers to something or donate money to something.' People want to celebrate it with you. It's fun for them. I haven't gotten anything weird. Just really nice gifts. Dishes, picture frames, and stuff that you go, 'Dang it. I can't believe they're doing that.' It's a pretty good feeling."

Blake's latest CD, 'Red River Blue,' hit shelves July 12. The new compilation of tunes offers, according to the singer-songwriter, a little bit of something for everyone's musical tastes.

"There's a handful of things that people would expect from me about in-breeding and drinking and dogs stuck together and stuff like that," he tells The Boot, "but there will be plenty of positive, fun love songs, because that's where I'm at right now."

Blake, who wrapped up the first season of 'The Voice' last night (June 29), will continue his summer trek across the country, serving as opening act on Brad Paisley's H20 II: Wetter & Wilder tour.

What A Witch! Meet 'True Blood's' Coven Queen Fiona Shaw

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Irish actress Fiona Shaw caused quite a bit of trouble for "True Blood's" favorite vampire bar owner -- Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) -- on Sunday's episode of HBO's pulpy drama, and this season she's ready to take her place as Bon Temps' newest bad girl.

"She's a witchy woman, she's got witch tendencies, and like a lot of people, she's probably rather unloved," Shaw told Access Hollywood of her troublemaking character.

In Sunday's final scenes, Eric headed to a witches' coven to warn them off reanimating dead creatures, and showed off his mean side. Afraid of the powerful vampire, Marnie, with a little help from a surprisingly powerful Lafayette, managed to cast a spell on Eric, setting off a series of repercussions expected to unfold across the season.

"Yes, but Eric causes major trouble for me, so I'm going to defend Marnie," Shaw laughed when asked about causing trouble for the ancient character, played by the lanky Swedish actor. "Eric is a nightmare as far as I'm concerned."

Beyond spells, Marnie is gearing up for some additional otherworldly action set to rock the Bon Temps boat.

"She becomes very unlovable, I have to say, as the season goes on," Shaw explained of what's on the way. "She's a very exciting character to play, [a] direct hit with the vampires."

Shaw said her character's story line will involve Nelsan Ellis, who plays fan favorite, Merlotte's short order cook Lafayette.

"My character is certainly very pleased to meet Lafayette, who I realize has more powers than he knows," she noted.

Shaw is known to many film fans as Petunia Dursley, Harry Potter's aunt and guardian in the film series based on JK Rowling's books, but she expects Marnie to also be a very memorable character.

"I think [she's] a character you love to hate, but then of course, it depends on where you're standing. If you're anti-vampire, I'm your gal," she laughed.

Kate Moss & Jamie Hince: Honeymoon Bound!

Ready to embark on a sure-to-be memorable getaway, Kate Moss was spotted saying her goodbyes to remaining wedding guests before setting off with husband Jamie Hince on their honeymoon on Sunday (July 3).

The 37-year-old catwalk queen hugged her loved ones while giving a big kiss to daughter Lila Grace as she and her man boarded a helicopter to set off on their post-nuptials celebration.

According to recent reports, Kate and Jamie have interestingly chosen the West African town of Timbuktu as their honeymoon locale - despite the fat that Miss Miss thought it was a "fictional" place.

A source The Sun, "Jamie couldn't believe it when Kate questioned if it was a real destination. She just assumed it was fictional."

Also included in the couple's plans are visits to the Sahara Desert and Algeria.

Howard Steven Friedman: When the Facts Change

One of my favorite quotes of all time is John Maynard Keynes' famous retort, "When the facts change, I change my mind. What do you do, sir?" Unfortunately, too often people hold onto their opinions regardless of the changing landscape of facts.

News flashes across the screen and we immediately fill in as many blanks as possible using our knowledge, experience, imagination, biases, etc. This is human nature. It is how we function in the world given the vast amount of incomplete information that exists in every situation. We form opinions and then need to decide whether or not those opinions shift as new information arrives. Ideally, we are conscious of the biases that helped formed those opinions but, more often, they operate under the radar screen.

The Dominique Strauss Kahn (DSK) case seems like a textbook example. When the news first came out, many rushed to convict DSK while some instinctively defended him. Those who took a strong stand with minimal information were filling in those vast informational gaps with their imagination and biases. Those who immediately "convicted" DSK tended to make broad generalizations about the IMF, men in power or French culture. Those immediately "defended" DSK often made broad generalizations about the sex appeal of powerful men or negative stereotypes about the accuser's culture, socio-economic background, etc. From what minimal facts had been shared with the media, there seemed to be little question that there was a physical interaction between DSK and the accuser, yet the cases has boiled down to he-said/she-said concerning whether the interaction was consensual or forced. Not surprisingly, the defense soon adapted the strategy of attacking the witness.

Now that DSK has been freed from house arrest, many are rushing again to judge. Some blame the prosecution, some blame the accuser while others think this was all a set-up. In the end, we will most likely never really know whether a crime was committed or not, but that won't stop us from forming our opinions -- after all, we are human and that is how the mind works.

In general, as we form opinions in situations where the facts are limited, an important step is to ask ourselves not only what we believe, but, more introspectively, what specifically made us form that opinion. What information, personal knowledge, opinions and biases made us fill in the gaps the way we did? Then, as the facts change, are we willing to change our mind?

Chord Overstreet Is Leaving Glee

Come fall, not everyone will be making their way back to William McKinley High School.

Chord Overstreet, who joined Glee last season as recurring guest star and transfer student Sam Evans, will not be a series regular for season three, a rep for Fox confirms to PEOPLE.

"Well its been a good yr too bad its over," the actor, 22, Tweeted Friday, seemingly alluding to his diminished role on the show. "Time for summer and starting fresh."

The rep did not disclose the reason for the decision, but Overstreet might make his way back to the Glee gang as an occasional guest star, a source close to the show tells TV Line, which first reported the news.

So who got the green light for season 3?

Darren Criss, who plays Warbler crooner Blaine, and Harry Shum Jr., who plays dancing machine Mike, were both upgraded to full-time series regulars this fall.

The casting news comes on the heels of a recent promise from creator Ryan Murphy that some of the show's main characters would graduate by the end of season three.

"We didn't want to have a show where they were in high school for eight years," Murphy told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM radio show last month.

Daily News Editorial: Rewriting the Founding Fathers dumbs down their achievement: creating an independent nation through hard-fought compromise

THE Fourth of July is a time for Americans to celebrate the genius of the Founding Fathers, who adopted the Declaration of Independence 235 years ago Monday and later crafted the Constitution and governed the young United States.

But too much of the public discussion of the Founding Fathers these days does them less honor than they deserve.

Voters are getting used to hearing politicians invoke the words and deeds of the men in the powdered wigs to support this or that present-day policy. Sometimes, these are made-up words and deeds, or are only vaguely relevant to the issue at hand. Often, the other side fires back with an equally dubious quotation or anecdote.

Listeners are left confused about what the Founding Fathers actually stood for.

This isn't only about the recent cases of politicians trying to rewrite history: former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin making it sound as if Paul Revere rode to deliver a gun-rights message to the British, and Rep. Michele Bachmann's doubly disputable claim that John Quincy Adams was a Founding Father who fought to end slavery.

This isn't only about oversimplification: Tea Party conservatives pulling out the phrases that emphasize the principle of economic liberty, while liberals reach for evidence Thomas Jefferson and Co. stood for socialism.

And this isn't only about divisive religious overtones: Claims the Founding Fathers intended public life to be completely divorced from faith. Claims they intended the United States to be a "Christian" nation. Reverence for the words of the first American leaders as if they were handed down from God.

This is about the disservice done when great men are reduced to political mascots.

The Founding Fathers were not deities, but neither should they be dragged through the mud of modern politics by sound-bite artists who seem to be trying to shut down debate instead of elevate it.

Their genius was the way they turned grand social philosophy into a functioning system of government. They achieved it through hard compromise of a sort unfamiliar to today's elected officials.

Neither the process nor the results were altogether pretty. In the most familiar case, to win southern states' support, the Constitution protected slavery.

We must be mindful of the complexity of the Founding Fathers' task, and the good and bad examples they set for future generations of leaders, lest we reduce their work to bumper-sticker slogans.

Let's honor those first American idols the right way as we mark the birthday of the nation that is the enduring monument to their brilliance.

Georgia Immigration Law: Thousands Protest For Reform At State Capitol

ATLANTA (AP) -- Thousands of marchers stormed the Georgia Capitol on Saturday to protest the state's new immigration law, which they say creates an unwelcome environment for people of color and those in search of a better life.

Men, women and children of all ages converged on downtown Atlanta for the march and rally, cheering speakers while shading themselves with umbrellas and posters. Capitol police and organizers estimated the crowd at between 8,000 and 14,000. They filled the blocks around the Capitol, holding signs decrying House Bill 87 and reading "Immigration Reform Now!"

Friends Jessica Bamaca and Melany Cordero held a poster that read: "How would you feel if your family got broken apart?"

Bamaca was born in the U.S., but her mother and sister are from Guatemala. She said she fears they will be deported.

"I would be here by myself," said Bamaca, 13. "I have a feeling (the governor) doesn't know the pain affecting families. If he were to be in our position, how would he react?"

Adelina Nicholls, executive director of the Georgia Latino Alliance for Human Rights, said the crowd was sending a message.

"They are ready to fight," Nicholls said. "We need immigration reform, and no HB87 is going to stop us. We have earned the right to be here."

Azadeh Shahshahani of the American Civil Liberties Union of Georgia called the rally inspiring and said she hoped lawmakers would recognize the law's potential to damage the state.

"I think it's going to have an impact," she said. "Unfortunately, the damage has already been done as far as people of color having second thoughts about moving to Georgia."

Several different groups stood with the largely Latino crowd, including representatives from the civil rights movement. The Rev. Timothy McDonald, an activist who has been supportive of immigration protesters, was among the speakers showing his solidarity.

"You are my brothers and my sisters," McDonald told the crowd. "Some years ago, they told people like me we couldn't vote. We did what you are doing today. We are going to send a message to the powers that be ... that when the people get united, there is no government that can stop them. Don't let them turn you around."

MiLi Lai, a student at Emory who is Chinese, also attended the rally because the immigration law doesn't just apply to Latinos, but "all non-American people."

"We are the same community," Lai said. "We have to fight for our rights."

Bellanira Avoytes came to the rally with her husband and three children. Although she is a legal resident and her children were born in Georgia, she does not see herself as separate from undocumented Latinos.

"I have family who are not residents," she said. "I am together with the Latin people. I love Georgia. I have stayed here for 18 years. I want to buy a house here."

Saturday's rally follows a "day without immigrants" organized Friday, when some parts of the law took effect. It was organized by the Georgia Latino Alliance for Human Rights. The organization asked businesses to close and community members not to work or shop to protest the law.

On Monday, a judge temporarily blocked key parts of the law until a legal challenge is resolved. One provision that was blocked authorizes police to check the immigration status of suspects without proper identification. It also authorizes them to detain undocumented immigrants. Another penalizes people who knowingly and willingly transport or harbor undocumented immigrants while committing another crime.

Parts of similar measures in Arizona, Utah and Indiana also have been blocked by the courts.

Provisions that took effect Friday include one that makes it a felony to use false information or documentation when applying for a job. Another provision creates an immigration review board to investigate complaints about government officials not complying with state laws related to undocumented immigration.

Edward Flattau: Environmental Masochism

Pollution is non-partisan when it comes to claiming victims. That is why it is astonishing to find a majority of Republican respondents in a recent national poll favoring the abolition of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Even politicians most sharply critical of the EPA readily concede that progress in curbing pollution over the last four decades is largely due to the federal agency's enforcement of landmark environmental laws passed by Congress in the 1970s. Past success, however, does not mean that victory is at hand. Empirical evidence dictates it is delusional to think that the battle against pollution has been won, or that the remaining problems can be resolved through regulation-free spontaneity on industrys part.

So what was the majority of the prospective Republican voters in this poll thinking? Certainly not the thoughts held by the overwhelming majority of Americans according to a poll of all party affiliations conducted by the Rasmussen organization. Three out of every four respondents in the Rasmussen survey opposed elimination of the EPA. By contrast 42 percent of the Republicans who were queried favored abolition, while 40 percent were against the idea.

Are we witnessing a masochistic streak in the slim majority of Republicans wanting to do away with the EPA? To believe that industry is capable of policing itself is beyond naivety. The reality is that left to their own devices, most businesses that emit pollution will follow the money, even if that means treading punitively on the environment underfoot.

Maybe some of the Republican naysayers are not against environmental regulation per se, but simply think state and local agencies are better suited than the EPA to do the job. Here is another flight from reality. States and localities lack sufficient resources to tackle the formidable environmental and public health challenges on their own, a fact of life currently being learned the hard way. As a result of congressional Republicans forcing a $1.6 billion cut in EPAs 2011 budget, state and local officials are discovering that reduction in federal fiscal help leaves them unable to adequately enforce their environmental laws.

In addition, state and local environmental regulators tend to be more susceptible than their federal counterparts to political pressure from affluent local business interests. Proximity can breed undue influence. The federal regulator answers to Washington, as opposed to some state or local agency head whose future job opportunities may depend on placating the local power structure.

What is the rationale of Republicans seeming to act against their own best interests by opposing the existence of a federal environmental regulatory agency?

Rasmussen's pollsters use a methodology that tends to single out political junkies, and that type of respondent in Republican ranks often is an avid listener to Right Wing talk radio. It is these Right Wing talk show hosts who incessantly revile the federal bureaucrats as devils incarnate issuing unnecessary economy-strangling regulations merely to solidify their own continued employment.

Anyone who swallows this guff requires an urgent wakeup call, because the nation desperately needs a united front to roll back environmental degradation that plays no favorites.

Will.i.am Evacuates Burning Hotel in London

Will.i.am appeared to maintain his composure on Friday, despite being evacuated from his London hotel that caught on fire.

The Black Eyed Peas frontman, 36, was photographed calmly covering his face with a T-shirt as he was escorted out of the burning 28-story Park Lane Hilton.

In town for business, the pop star had a performance scheduled for the evening with his band mates at Hyde Park, close to where the fire took place. He later Tweeted from the performance.

At least 20 firefighters were on the scene once news of the disaster broke. According to reports, no one was injured, but there were at least 1,500 guests and staff who fled the property.

No official cause of the fire has yet been released, but it reportedly began on the second floor in the kitchen.

Survey "Thermometer Of Startup Investment In Spain 2011" Demonstrates Paucity Of Women In The Sector

The report, produced by Ready4Ventures, notes that only 4 out of 66 investors and 4 out of 109 entrepreneurs interviewed were women. Both data serve to underline the need for Ellas 2.0?s mission to remedy the shortage of female talent in the industry.

Other significant findings were that 72% of entrepreneurs used savings and family support to launch their projects and 43% see grants as a primary source of funding.

The entrepreneurs surveyed considered ICT as the sector with the most potential. The most frequently cited business challenges for startups were access to finance, customer acquisition and bureaucratic public administration.

The good news is that 55% of investors believe they have more money to invest during 2011 and 2012 and only 18% believe they have less.

You can access the full report (in Spanish) here .

This article was written by Ellas 2.0, a The NextWomen partner and contributor. See their website here.

DJ Pauly D Slapped With $4 Million Lawsuit

It looks like Pauly D is facing some bigger problems this summer other than deciding which club he should go to at the Jersey Shore. The DJ-turned-reality star is facing a copyright infringement lawsuit with a hefty $4 million price tag.

According to the New York Post, Paul Lis -- a Connecticut DJ who goes by the stage name 'DJ Paulie' -- has filed a suit against the fist-pumping 'Jersey Shore' star, MTV and the businesses that have contracts with him.

His reasoning? He claims he has spent 40 years building up his DJ name and business and ever since DJ Pauly D -- a.k.a Paul DelVecchio -- made his MTV debut, his business has suffered.

"[Lis] formally trademarked the name 'DJ Paulie' and then came the 'Jersey Shore' which basically wiped him off the face of the map," attorney Jose M. Rojas said.

"The reality television show [follows] a group of young adults pursuing a debauched lifestyle suggestive of loose morals, violence, intoxication and liberal profanity -- the exact opposite of the reputation the Plaintiff, 'DJ Paulie' that[sic] he had spent decades cultivating," the lawsuit alleges.

Lis said that thanks to all the information about the reality star on the internet, it's almost impossible to find his Connecticut DJ business. Even a cease-and-desist letter from Lis' lawyers to MTV went unnoticed, he claims.

The studio has until September 30 to file a motion to dismiss the lawsuit.

Delvecchio, meanwhile, has attempted to filed patents on his moniker and his businesses, claiming his and Lis' businesses are extremely different, but his claims have been denied.

Prince Harry has been dating someone new, according to the best-selling U.K. newspaper the Sun.

She is sometime actress and swimwear and lingerie model Florence Brudenell-Bruce, 25. The pair have been having "secret trysts" and spending time together at her London home in Notting Hill, according to Wednesday's editions.

A descendant of 19th-century war hero the Earl of Cardigan, who led the Charge of the Light Brigade during the Crimean War, Brudenell-Bruce is reported to have said, "There's not that much to say" when asked about Harry, 26.

An unidentified source tells the tabloid that the two are an item, though, admittedly, it is early in their relationship.

A Palace spokesman said, "We don't comment on the Prince's personal life."

Christine Lagarde Announced as First Female Head of IMF

French finance minister Christine Lagarde was today announced as the first female leader of the International Monetary Fund. She takes over from Dominique Strauss-Kahn, beginning her five-year term on 5 July.

With a background in law, rather than economics, Lagarde made her mark as the first and only female economy minister of a G8 country to date by surrounding herself with strong advisers and by using her impeccable English and media savvy to get her message out. The Financial Times named her last year the best economy minister in the eurozone and Forbes ranked her the 17th-most important woman in the world.

Her role at the heart of the eurozone debt crisis was probably crucial in securing her new position with the IMF. She has been a champion of eurozone solidarity, urging the likes of Germany and France to pull together to support weaker members. She also played a key role in securing a 750 billion euro (673bn) EU-rescue fund during the debt market crisis in 2009.

Talking about negotiations such as these, Lagarde has said that her understated, feminine approach can prove an asset when dealing with male peers.

The chancellor, George Osborne, hailed Lagarde as "good news for the global economy and for Britain". He said "She is the best person for the job, which is why Britain was one of the first countries to propose her. She has been a strong advocate for countries tackling high budget deficits and living within their means."

President Nicolas Sarkozy described the appointment as a "victory for France", even though her departure leaves him vulnerable to attacks that the strong female cabinet presence he promised has evaporated.

?I am deeply honoured by the trust placed in me,? said Miss Lagarde of her new role.

Atheist Billboard Removed From Church Land In Ohio

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A billboard supporting atheism has been taken down from property owned by an Ohio church after the pastor complained.

The ad put up in Columbus by the Freedom From Religion Foundation featured the beaming face of a local nonbeliever and the man's message: "I can be good without God."

The sign had upset Rev. Waymon Malone of Christ Cathedral Church. The church owns the land where the billboard went up. Malone was unavailable for comment, but his mother-in-law told The Columbus Dispatch on Tuesday that the pastor ordered the ad be removed.

Account executive Jay Schmidt with Matrix Media Services calls the billboard's placement "an unfortunate oversight." The ad agency says the sign came down days after it was installed last week and is back up at another site.

Ladies night out with Salman

Salman Khan?s Being Human show at the HDIL India Couture Week 2010 on Saturday night was a feast for the eyes as the superstar dished out eight oomphy ladies of Tinseltown ? including the top three actresses of today, Katrina Kaif, Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra ? on the runway. Kareena and Priyanka were seen holding hands when they came for the curtain call with Salman and thus managed to dispel the gossip of any sort of animosity. The others to sashay down the ramp were Preity Zinta, Rani Mukerji, Bipasha Basu, Karisma Kapur and Sushmita Sen as Salman decoded fashion from 1920s to present times in a grand musical-like choreography. High on oomph quotient, the show only showcased eight ensembles but the drama ? the provocative dancing and the extravagant opulent props, made sure that everybody was dazzled. In Dabangg style Sallu had distributed whistles to everyone giving them virtually the licence to express their excitement when the leading ladies soared temperature on the catwalk. Preity opened the show strutting in a sexy black dress ? a provocateur that certainly made the audiences get going about the 1920s. The embodiment of 30s was the evidently slimmed down Katrina who was greeted by tap dancers and models dressed as the mafia of that era. Rani portrayed the 40s ? she glided in with Mughal-e-Azam clip and Pakeezah?s iconic track Chalte Chalte playing at the backdrop. Her nawabi tehzeeb was an instant hit as she bowed in front of the audiences in a vintage ?

Missy Elliott Reveals Past of Poverty and Sexual Abuse

Missy Elliott has opened up about her troubled past of poverty and childhood sexual abuse.

In VH1's latest 'Behind the Music' documentary which debuted Wednesday, the highly accomplished and celebrated female rapper, who celebrates her 40th birthday Friday, reveals she grew up in dismal state of poverty in Portsmouth, Virginia. "I remember having mice in the house and my father taking some newspaper and beating me because mice was running on me while I was asleep," she revealed.

Missy's mom Patricia Elliott adds, "We didn't have running water ... We were going in a pot that sat by her bed, because we didn't have a bathroom."

Missy also shared the shocking story of sexual abuse at the hands of her 16-year-old cousin when she was only 8. She recalls, "Each day he wanted me to come to the house after school. It became sexual, which, for me at eight years old, I had no clue what that was, but I knew something was wrong."

"Being molested ... it don't disappear. You remember it as if it was yesterday," Missy adds. The rapper explains the abuse took place over the course of a year, but that she never told anyone at the time.

She also talks about witnessing the abuse of her mother at the hands of her father and her recently revealed Graves' disease diagnosis -- an incurable autoimmune disorder, which Missy had been keeping mum about since 2008.

After three years of silence, Missy publicly disclosed that she was diagnosed with the thyroid disease after experiencing a frightening loss of muscle control and suffering several other debilitating hyperthyroid symptoms, including mood swings and hair loss. Elliott turned to radiation treatment, which has greatly improved her condition, but cannot cure her of the disease.

A New Perspective On Bipolar Disorder, Depression, Mania, Hallucinations, and Delusion

A New Perspective On Bipolar Disorder, Depression, Mania, Hallucinations, and Delusion

www.bipolaradvantage.com What is unfortunate today is that far too many people continue to cling to the old belief that it is impossible to live a full life with a mental condition. On the other hand, a growing group of people are beginning to consider a life that is not restricted to a narrow range of experience. I look forward to the day when we all rise above the ignorance that keeps us in fear and denial of a better life. Bipolar In Order is based on a very simple premise we can learn and grow to the point that we see our condition as an advantage in our lives. Because this concept is often difficult for many people to accept on blind faith alone, I encourage everyone to simply begin by accepting that this new perspective is possible. To make this perspective a reality requires persistence, determination, and commitment. If you will give this perspective a chance, you will prove it in your own life. There are so many examples of bipolar ?disorder? that it is easy to understand why so many people try to avoid it instead of facing it and getting it under control. We can choose to view depression, mania, hallucination, and delusion from at least two different perspectives?either as ?disorder? or as ?in order.? Knowing that we have a choice of perspectives leads us to the understanding that we do not have to accept a diminished life. We begin to see what bipolar can be if we get it ?in order? instead of trying to make it go away. For me, Bipolar In Order is the greatest ?

Sarah Ferguson lost and found: A duchess's journey

Lost and found: Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson opens up about her life in a new book.

By Robert Deutsch, USA TODAY

Lost and found: Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson opens up about her life in a new book.

The Duchess of York strides into her publisher's Midtown office crisply dressed in a blazer and dress that accentuate her shapely figure. She's spent the past hour tied up in traffic but doesn't appear rattled. Offering a smile and a handshake, she sits down to talk about her latest book, Finding Sarah: A Duchess's Journey to Find Herself (Atria, $25.99).

Which means rehashing what Ferguson, 51, describes as a life-long struggle for both self-acceptance and the approval of others. It's the subject both of her memoir and a six-part "docu-series" on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN), also called Finding Sarah. The fourth installment airs July 10 at 9 p.m. ET/8 CT, with a repeat of the premiere episode set to run Sunday.

The author of numerous children's and lifestyle books, Ferguson had originally wanted her new book to focus on mothering. "It's the one job I think I've done brilliantly," says Ferguson, mum to Princesses Beatrice, 22, and Eugenie, 20, by ex-husband Prince Andrew, whom she divorced in 1996.

That plan dissolved in May 2010, when Ferguson ? no stranger to scandal during her marriage to Andrew ? was unwittingly taped by a British tabloid reporter who was posing as a businessman interested in investing in her philanthropic pursuits. In a portion of the video that Ferguson says was taken out of context, she suggested that a donation might "open doors" to Andrew.

Other press outlets quickly seized on the story "and turned it into something disgustingly awful," Ferguson says. "It was so sad. Friends said to me, 'We love you, but we don't understand ? who is this person?' I fell into a trap. I was drinking (in the video). I looked ? decadent. My instincts were, what am I doing?"

Ferguson remains adamant that she "didn't sell Andrew ? I didn't sell access to him. But it appeared like that."

The incident is the starting point of the book, which Ferguson culled largely from diary entries, "massaged" with help from Maggie Greenwood-Robinson (The Biggest Loser). The OWN series was conceived later by Winfrey, who has interviewed Ferguson several times and seems to have made her rehabilitation a personal mission.

The many guides in Ferguson's journey include celebrity gurus and Winfrey acolytes such as Dr. Phil McGraw, life coach Martha Beck and financial adviser Suze Orman. Most assure Ferguson, in one way or another, that her lack of self-worth ? stemming from her mother's abandoning her at 12 to run off with an Argentine lover ? is at the root of her problems.

Atria executive vice president and publisher Judith Curr, who in the OWN series is shown helping persuade a wary duchess to take the book in its revelatory direction, thought that Ferguson's "access to all these excellent people" would help make her journey attractive and accessible to readers. "We all have issues to deal with, though maybe not so many at once," Curr says.

Asked if she ever worried that delving into those issues so publicly would encourage yet more criticism, Ferguson simply says, "I couldn't have more than I've already had." Besides, she's proud of her progress.

"I'm healing myself," she says. For instance, the U.K.'s most recent royal wedding ? to which Ferguson, famously, was not invited ? initially caused her "sadness and regret, a feeling of, 'What did I do wrong?'" Now, she says, she's thrilled for Prince William and the new Duchess of Cambridge. "The last bride down that aisle (at Westminster Abbey in 1986) was me, but now it's on to Kate, and it's exciting."

Ferguson has her own ventures to attend to, among them her Helping Hand Books for kids; four new entries were made available by Sterling Press in June, with more due in August. Ballerina Rosie is due from Simon & Schuster in September 2012, and she's planning a novel for St. Martin's Press, about an 18th-century redhead named Lady Margaret (her middle name). "It's Pride and Prejudice meets 24," she says.

Romance is a trickier subject. Ferguson is still close to Andrew, of whom she writes adoringly. He supported her through recent financial troubles and she still lives on his estate when in England. Though she dismisses any chance of reconciliation, she admits, "I don't date. There are no takers, really. You have to be really strong to have the public eye on you, and if you're with me, it will be."

She pauses, though, and brightens a bit. "But maybe now the energy will change. I wasn't open to it before, because my heart was shut down. Maybe. We'll see."
