Cheryl Cole's new blonde locks are believed to have been ex-husband Ashley Cole's idea.

The axed US X Factor judge stepped out with her new lighter choppy bob in London yesterday as she popped into the American Embassy.

'Ashley had a lot of input with the new hair,' a source tells The Sun. 'He said it would suit her.

'Everyone knows that Ashley goes for blondes.'

Cheryl, 28, and Ashley are planning their public reunion.

But blonde mum-of-two Aimee Walton, who had a drunken romp with Ashley, 30, in 2007, thinks Cheryl's stupid for getting back with him.

'I think they'll be happy for a while, but it'll probably end with her getting hurt again,' Aimee tells us in an exclusive interview.

'She obviously thinks he's changed.

'But if he was ever going to change he'd have done so after being caught out the first time. Instead he kept on cheating.'
